“I’m delighted to sign this petition and to see the wonderful leadership of the team at Sunday Blessings. It’s appalling that in a rich country like Aotearoa many children and their families do not have food security” said Commissioner Hunt.

Lockdown cant stop St George's Cook Strait rowing crew smash numbers instead of waves whilst fundraising for Sunday Blessings

April 20, 2020

On April 18, 2020, a St Georges rowing club crew meant to row the Cook Strait and back that same week prior to Covid, took part in a virtual row together, live and from their separate homes.

CJ, Stew, Trish, Judy, Danielle and Evan (support) had been training for months prior to lockdown, and didnt want to let it all go to waste, and boy they did not let it.

Not only did they complete the row with ease, they also managed to fundraise almost $3500 for our homeless, using Sunday Blessings as a way to ensure 100% of their fundraising went out to our community's vulnerable.

The team looked so good on their row, they even made that evenings Channel 1 Sports news, with a lovely interview including a mention of Sunday Blessings.

Thanks CJ, Stew, Trish, Judy, Danielle and Evan aka The Cook Strait Fairies!

It was a special Christmas dinner for the homeless community in Auckland last night.
Fried chicken, ham, roasted vege and a few cheerio sausages were served up by volunteers from Sunday Blessings, an organisation that puts on a meal for those in need every Sunday night outside the library in downtown Auckland. Jason Burton-Miller, who said he was not homeless but had "fallen on hard times", donned a Santa hat for the occasion as he dug in to the meal.
